In the state of Washington you must be licensed to work as a armed security guard. Licensing is handled by the Washington State Department of Licensing. In addition to the requirements for becoming an unarmed security guard in Washington you must also adhere to the following requirements.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Firearms certificate issued by the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission.
Firearms training include at least 8 hours of training and is handled by the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission.
You must be re-certified every year to retain your armed license.
The application process is similar to that of an unarmed security guard, except you should also make sure you have the following:
- Completed firearms training and submit firearms certification form.
Note that firearms application and training is handled by Criminal Justice Training Commission.
There is a $111 unarmed private security guard license fee and a $10 armed endorsement fee.
Renewal is $85.
