You must be licensed in order to work as an Armed Utah security guard. In addition to the requirements that must be met in order to work as an unarmed security guard in Utah you must also meet the following criteria.
- At least 21 years of age
- Complete a 12 hour firearms training course
The 12 hour firearms training includes the following topics:
- 6 hours of classroom training
- 6 hours of range training
License must be renewed every 2 years.
The application process is similar to that of an unarmed security guard. You must complete the security personnel application form and submit it to the Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing as stated on the form. Before you submit the form make sure you have the following items, in addition to those required for when applying for a license to work as an unarmed guards.
- Completed Certification of Completion of Firearms Instruction
There is a $60 application fee, a $20 BCI fingerprinting fee and a $20 FBI fingerprint file search fee.
There is a $42 renewal fee.
