Armed Security Guard Training in South Carolina

In addition to the requirements for working as an unarmed security guard in South Carolina you must meet the following requirements.


  • At least 21 years of age
  • Completed SLED approved basic firarms training

Training course

In addition to the basic security guard training  required for unarmed guards. As an armed guard you must also complete 4 hours of handgun training by a SLED certified firearms trainer.


License must be renewed annually.

Application Process

As with unarmed guards the application is handled by the employer. Before your application is submitted make sure you have the following items, in addition to those required as an unarmed security guard.

  • Proof of successfully completed SLED approved firearms training


There is a $110 registration fee.

License renewal is $110.
