Armed Security Guard Training in Indiana

The Indiana statues and rules do not address armed security guards. Therefore requirements may vary by county. There are however state mandated requirements for carrying a gun.


In addition to the requirements for becoming a security guard in Indiana. The following requirements must be met in order to carry firearms.

  • No felony convictions involving the illegal use of weapons.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be a United States citizen or resident alien.
  • Emotionally and mentally stable.

Application process

The application process is the same as when you want to become an Indiana security guard, except you will also need the following;

  • Firearms license


There is a $10 local fee and a $30 state fee for a 4 year personal protection license to carry a handgun.

A lifetime personal protection license has an associated $50 local fee and a $75 state fee.
