There are no state mandated requirements to become an armed security guard in Idaho. Some requirements may apply at the county level. Any requirements are handled by the county Clerk’s Office.

- Be at least 21 years of age.
- State driver’s license.
- No felony or criminal convictions.
- No drug or alcohol addiction.
- 1 year of experience working as a security guard.
- Firearms training.
The requirements for firearms training may vary by county. It may be conducted by the hiring company and you may need to pass a test to qualify.
It can take up to 3 months to get cleared as a security guard.
