Armed Security Guard Training in Georgia

Requirements

In addition to the requirements for getting a security guard license in Georgia. Getting a license to work as an armed security guard includes the following requirements.

  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Complete 16 hours of firearms training.

Course description

If you are required to use a handgun at a minimum a 15 hour firearms training course is required. The course includes, but is not limited to;

  • Use of deadly force (1 hour)
  • Liability issues (2 hours)
  • Ballistics (1 hours)
  • Types of handguns (3 hours)
  • Firearms range qualification (8 hours)

If you are required to use a semi-automatic pistol at a minimum a 16 hour firearms training course is required. The course includes, but is not limited to;

  • Use of deadly force (1 hour)
  • Liability issues (2 hours)
  • Ballistics (1 hours)
  • History and development of the semi-automatic pistol (1 hour)
  • Safety and functional operation of semi-automatic pistols (2 hours)
  • Malfunction-causes and methods for clearing automatic pistols (1 hour)
  • Firearms range qualification (8 hours)

Application process

The application process is the same as when you apply for a Georgia security guard license, except you will also need;

  • Certificate of completed firearms training.

Fees

There is a $70 registration fee.
